About Beyond Hair and Culture Magazine

BHC Magazine: Who are we?

Beyond Hair & Culture Magazine  is an independent digital publication founded in 2024 by Amina A. It studies hair as culture, evidence, and social record.

BHC Magazine decodes how beauty, identity, and history intersect. Each piece offers clarity and context, creating a space where research, narrative, and cultural inquiry shape how hair is understood today.

Our work brings structure to subjects commonly reduced to aesthetics. We trace how meaning moves through rituals, archives, and collective memory. Hair becomes a method of reading society, not simply an element of appearance. Through this perspective, BHC approaches every theme with intention, offering readers depth over noise.

Our mission

Our mission is to treat hair as a cultural language worth reading closely. Every article traces how ideas, habits, and identities appear at the surface long before they reach the headlines. We write to preserve what would otherwise disappear, and to give readers context that sharpens how they see themselves, their history, and the world around them.

The founder's first letter

« If I had never experienced hair loss, BHC wouldn’t exist today. I wouldn’t be writing this first letter to you, one of many that will follow.

When I started BHC, it came from a simple need: to gather everything I had learned about hair loss in one place.

I was very young when it started, and despite appointments, tests, and treatments, nothing gave me a clear answer. So I did what most of us end up doing. I searched everywhere. I read hundreds of articles, browsed forums, followed specialists, and scrolled through every corner of social media to see if anyone understood what I was going through.

At some point, I looked at the number of tabs open in my browser and realized how chaotic it all was. If a topic affects so many people, why is the information scattered, complex, or contradictory?

That’s when I decided to build a space where people could finally understand what was happening—without medical jargon, without confusion, without the feeling of being alone in it. That intention shaped the first name of this publication: Believe Haircare.

The more I learned, the broader my questions became. Hair loss led me into science, but curiosity pushed me further—toward culture, behavior, and the patterns people repeat without noticing. That’s when I decided to widen the lens and follow the questions that kept showing up. I moved past biology and started paying attention to everything that surrounds it: habits, reactions, and the small details people overlook. For me, it was the logical expansion that Beyond Hair & Culture needed. It grew naturally, the same way interest grows when something refuses to stay simple.

And that’s how this space took its shape—one question leading to another, each one opening a path worth exploring.

Beyond Hair & Culture Magazine : what do we cover?

Beyond Hair & Culture Magazine is organized into defined editorial categories. Hair Loss explains shedding and helps readers identify the factors involved. Hair Care & Rituals focuses on routines, scalp care, and product methodology. Hair in Culture examines how hair appears in history, tradition, and shared social habits. Mind & Body looks at psychological pressure, internal conflict, and the questions people face in daily life.

We publish articles that combine clarity, research, and cultural relevance. Each category works independently, but together they outline the way hair moves through care, identity, and lived experience. BHC functions as a digital publication that prioritizes accuracy, structure, and long-form thinking.
